Did you know that houseplants have the ability
to absorb potentially harmful pollutants from the air?

A study done by NASA scientists showed that
the Gerbera daisy and the chrysanthemum were rated superior in removing
benzene (known to cause some cancers in humans.
Some varieties of philodendrons were effective
in removing benzene, carbon monoxide and large quantities of
formaldehyde. The green spider plant was also effective
in removing carbon monoxide. The aloe vera plant removed low levels of formaldehyde.
Now, the scientists say that polluted rooms cannot be cleaned up by plants alone, but if you choose your greenery with this in mind, it certainly won't hurt and might end up helping quite a bit.
